Hail Mary

Mary Katrantzou just keeps getting better season after season. This time pencils, spoons, a french garden, watches and even a typewriter made it into Katrantzou's fantastic prints. According to the Telegraph the designer collaborated with French embroidery house Lesage to put together this collection, no wonder this is almost couture.

Eye On: Mary Katrantzou

Spring Summer 2011
Review: Mary Katrantzou:The Greek native who is quickly making a name for herself with her distinct use of graphics digitally printed onto fabrics, has managed to put together yet another brilliant collection. The designer was inspired by images of oldissues of Architectural Digest and World of Interiors: She fitted them cleverly onto the female figure using her characteristic trompe l’oeil effects to create the illusion looking through the window of an elegantly decorated room as the model walked down the runway. The curtains of the print evolved into the lower part of the dress as if it were coming to life, perfectly symmetrical printed pieces, lampshade skirts, tassels, crystals and bold bright colours, among other elements made show a surreal experience. Not only can Katrantzou think outside of the box, she can actually pull it off too: who would have thought the interior of a room could be so wearable?
